Arrowhead Addition

Years in the making our collaboration with Melanie started with a casual referral from friend and musical hero of ours Andrew Trube of The Greyhounds. Our team was really excited about the potential of the Highland Park West site and the prospect of transforming a normal ranch house into something unique.
The house, originally characterized by a two car garage door facing the steeply sloping street, had a full length side yard terraced up from the hill and a nice sized pool situated at the back of the property. Although interested in an addition that would improve the appearance from the street Melanie wanted the design to stake a claim on her side yard and create a private courtyard – the perfect space for outdoor living and summer night swims.
Closely collaborating with Melanie, Hugh Jefferson Randoplh and Mark Word Design we were honored to be a part of one of our most ambitious builds to date. The millwork, concrete, glazing, tile and custom steel throughout the project are carefully crafted and tailored to support a casual, simple and comfortable home with multiple ways to access the yard and pool. New windows throughout the existing house and a comprehensive landscape design help unify the old and new wings of the hillside home. Large expanses of screened doors and windows and a prominent screened porch provide a functional, luxurious bug barrier let rooms capture breezes on cooler nights.
